I wonder if there is anything in How to Teach Physics to Your Dog about dual relationships. Emi and Shumba get on my lap whether I pay or not so that keeps things pretty simple. Good to establish this boundary for myself. Boundaries, that's it. I wonder what physics has to say about boundaries.
Here we go: "quantum Zeno effect: A demonstration of quantum measurement in which an object can be prevented from changing states by repeatedly measuring its state. The classical equivalent is a dog who prevents her owner from napping by constantly asking, 'Are you asleep?'" pg. 239
Now that is a bit convoluted but good to remember how the world responds to our measuring it. Time to read.
